Pavel Shchedrovitsky - college admissions consultant & adolescent development mentor.

For more than eight years, I have guided students through every stage of preparation and admission to leading universities around the world. My students are now studying at Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, and many other top universities worldwide. Many are on full funding.

I work with families and teenagers aged 12–18 not simply to submit applications, but to build an effective strategy — from choosing an academic direction and destination countries to shaping a strong profile and a clear admissions roadmap.

In partnership with an international team of colleagues, I help applicants find the university that truly fits them and unlock their full potential on the way there. I work with only 10 (!) students each season.

Testimonials & Interviews

Real stories from my students and their families about preparation and admission, many of whom received full ride — explore these interviews to see what’s possible and unpack a successful path to your goals in vivid detail.

Guidance Approach

A strong application begins less with grades and a list of activities than with a driven, interesting person. That is why, first of all, I work with the student and family to clarify who the teenager wants to become, where they can truly excel, and which universities and programs genuinely fit their profile and values.

At the core of my method are three key blocks:

Self-definition: “Want – Can – Need.” We separate the student’s own aspirations from outside expectations, build on real abilities, and take into account the needs of the market and universities.
The “Star” model and transfer of ownership. Goal, knowledge, skills, values, motivation, and action — step by step, the teenager learns to manage each of these dimensions consciously and independently.
Profile and authenticity over a “list of activities.” We choose one or two strong directions, build real achievements instead of box-ticking activities, and turn them into a compelling story for the admissions committee.

In the course of our work, I help teenagers aged 12–18 turn admission to a strong global university into their own conscious project — with a clear strategy, a strong profile, and support at every step. I work as a mentor and strategic guide: I build a long-term plan, usually for 2–3 years, help maintain focus, make thoughtful decisions, and stay grounded amid requirements, deadlines, and opinions.

For the family, the result is more than just “an application submitted”: it is a meaningful choice of academic direction and universities, a realistic roadmap to the dream university, a strong and differentiated student profile, and a more mature position from the teenager themselves.

Modules

Core program modules delivered by me and my international team of specialists:

The starting point for a successful admissions journey is understanding what your teenager is genuinely good at and what truly energizes them.

Abilities. We map your child’s strengths based on academic performance, skills, and modern aptitude assessments, so that their natural potential becomes the foundation of the plan.

Interests. We identify what genuinely engages and energizes them and, based on this, outline potential development pathways and future “anchor” activities for their application story.

Motivation. We explore underlying motivation (including through psychological questionnaires) to build a sustainable foundation for long-term work and avoid early burnout at the very start of the process.

If you are an international student, strong English is a basic requirement for successful admission to an English‑language program and a key factor in thriving once you enroll.

We prepare students for the TOEFL so that they do more than “know the language”: they learn to read complex texts, think critically, and feel confident working in the exam format. Each student follows an individual program tailored to their level and target score, with lessons built strictly around TOEFL preparation methodology.

We also offer one‑to‑one IELTS preparation with a clear focus on real exam requirements: listening comprehension, academic reading, writing, and confident spoken communication.

The program is designed around the goals of each student, and all classes are led by professional multiingual teachers using proven exam strategies.

To strengthen the academic portfolio and demonstrate a high level of readiness to universities, it is essential to build an academic profile aligned with top global high school standards.

AP, IB, and A‑Level courses demonstrate readiness for advanced, college‑level work and significantly strengthen a student’s application.

I help families choose the optimal combination of exams for the student’s goals and design preparation so that the results directly support both admissions and competitive scholarship opportunities.

Although the U.S. system allows students to choose their majors after enrollment, selective universities still expect a well‑thought‑out academic story and a clear vision of a prospective major.

In an individual format, I help students and families choose directions using interviews, interest and aptitude assessments, trial classes, and “test‑driving” different fields, and then translate this into a clear plan for a major/minor or a classic academic track with a later choice of specialization.

Today there are tens of thousands of universities worldwide, and only in the U.S. there are thousands of colleges and universities — with just a few dozen that are truly considered top‑tier.

Instead of mechanically choosing by rankings, we begin with your individual criteria — academic, financial, and personal — and build a tailored list of programs in the U.S., the UK, Canada, Europe, and other destinations around the world.

This approach helps your child find universities that genuinely fit their level and values, increases the chances of admission and scholarships, and reduces the risk of disappointment or needing to transfer later.

Selective U.S. universities, and an increasing number of top universities around the world, admit students through a holistic review process: they consider not only grades, but also the applicant’s story, context, and impact.

That is why we begin building the strategy 2–3 years before submission and work with the family to create a compelling student profile — from extracurricular activities and projects to a tailored presentation aligned with the expectations of specific universities in the U.S., the UK, Europe, and beyond.

The goal of this work is to help secure the strongest offers and the maximum possible funding.

Essays are one of the key components of applications to selective colleges and universities in the U.S. and beyond: this is where the admissions committee sees a real person, not just grades and numbers. I do not write essays for the student; instead, I help them find their own voice, structure, and core ideas so that their essays are honest, substantive, and compelling.

The personal statement is the main essay in which the applicant shares their story, values, and academic goals.

Supplemental essays explain why the student is applying to specific universities and programs and demonstrate the fit between the student and each institution.

Short answers and mini‑essays round out the picture of the applicant and often play a significant role in the overall application.

An essential part of a successful admissions outcome is submitting complete and compelling applications on time.

Together with the student, we check that all required materials are ready for submission on time.

We walk through registration and application structure step by step; the student fills out the forms themselves, clearly understanding what they are indicating and why.

Before submission, we carefully proofread each application, cross‑check all data and documents, and minimize technical errors or “lost” materials.

Important: I do not submit applications on behalf of the student — the applicant does everything themselves, building key skills in the process, while I organize the workflow and help bring each application up to the expected standards.

Across the world — and especially in the United States — international students have real opportunities to secure substantial funding, from partial awards to full coverage (including living expenses). In addition to university‑based need‑ and merit‑based scholarships and aid, which often form the core of a family’s financial support plan, there are dozens of government programs and private foundations that support talented, motivated applicants.

Scholarship search is a separate track of work that we start as early as possible: I help systematically identify suitable scholarships and grants in the U.S., the UK, Europe, and other regions, understand their requirements, and build a clear application plan so you do not miss the best opportunities.

Campuses of the world’s leading universities are not only about striking architecture, but about a unique academic atmosphere that literally energizes teenagers and raises their ambitions.

Individual conversational tours of campuses with current students help high schoolers to:

  • See whether a particular university truly fits them “in real life,” not just on websites.
  • Talk to real students at Harvard, Stanford, Oxbridge and other selective universities and understand what kind of people are actually admitted.
  • Discuss their own portfolio, ask questions about admissions, and hear honest stories of “how it really happened.”
  • Feel the energy of the place and its student community and imagine themselves as part of that world.
  • Form an inner goal and long‑term motivation when the “dream university” first turns into a very concrete picture.

Many families choose a tour that includes several universities at once: comparing campuses, academic formats, and student life gives teenagers rich “food for thought” and helps them better understand where they see themselves in the future.

Webinar

A free 2.5-hour webinar for international students and their families on how to prepare for and apply to top U.S. universities for undergraduate study. We cover the key priorities, admissions strategy, and what really matters in a competitive applicant profile — in a clear, practical, and concise format.

Even as it was made for international applicants, it also offers equally valuable insight for domestic students as international students selection and competition is even tougher.
